⧏⧏ LOCATIVE MEDIA ⧐⧐
The guiding intent behind my Locative Media concept was to create a space where people can engage with music making in an accessible and fun way. Another layer of this intent was to invite people into a state of exploration, play, and joy in creating. My idea was that people would enter a space equipped with headphones and an app. In the room there are various objects. The app would be linked to the object so that when a person approached them a noise would play in their headphones. This noise could be a sound, spoken word, or music. Then people would have the option to bring objects to a special area set up in the space (titled ‘Loop Initiator’ in the diagram). This area, as can be seen in the diagram, would have sections in it. When people place their objects in the different sections the noise associated with their object would play on a loop. People could then arrange and rearrange object sounds in the sections to create a song. This audio clip below is an example of how this could sound:
* By ‘object movement’ I mean a person moving the object, not the object moving itself.
